Canary Garden is in its 13th year of supporting children and teens whose parent or sibling has died. Devastated by the loss, they struggle as their world turns upside down, shattering their sense of well-being and normalcy.
Some become depressed and angry; grades drop, behavioral issues develop, substance abuse problems arise, and the court system has to intervene. Our simple program can prevent these problems by providing comfort, support and the coping skills needed to prevent these problems. All services are provided free of charge with no waiting list.
At Canary Garden, hurting kids can share their confusing – and often conflicted – feelings in an emotionally safe environment. Parents also receive needed guidance and peer support to strengthen and equip them to meet the needs of their children as they work through their grief.
